Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Kosovo) : The forgotten resistance: The plight of conscientious objectors to military service after the conflict in Kosovo

This report examines the situation for hundreds of men who face trial and imprisonment for refusing to participate in the Kosovo conflict on the grounds of their conscientiously held convictions or beliefs. During the conflict NATO made repeated calls for those serving in the FRY military to disobey and resist their leadership but now may who refused to serve find themselves without any assurance of long-term security in the countries to which they have fled and the prospect of lengthy prison sentences if returned to the FRY. In this document several men who fled to Hungary to avoid conscription tell of their experiences and their disappointment with the reaction of the Hungarian authorities to their situation.
