In September 2014 at the 27th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), the President of the Council is to appoint the new Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation. In this document WASH United, WaterAid and Amnesty International offer, in the form of a checklist, an outline of qualifications that we believe are relevant to the selection and the appointment of the next mandate-holder. The organisations encourage governments, NGOs, National Human Rights Institutions and others, including relevant professional networks, to disseminate the vacancy widely so as to encourage candidates to apply for it.
