The UN Human Rights Council should support effective prevention of use of the death penalty against persons with mental or intellectual disabilities

On 10 October 2014 Amnesty International, together with other members of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty, will mark the 12th World Day Against the Death Penalty. This year the abolitionist movement has chosen to highlight the use of capital punishment against persons with mental or intellectual disabilities. This document is the Amnesty International written statement to the 27th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council (8 to 26 September 2014).
