Statement to African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights: Human rights situation in Africa

In this address to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the state of the situation of human rights in Africa, Amnesty International expresses concern that civilians in Somalia continue to bear the brunt of human rights violations in the context of the armed conflict; that freedom of expression in Ethiopia has deteriorated further; and that aerial bombardments in Sudan have displaced hundreds of thousands of people. The organization also raises concerns about forced evictions and criminalization of consensual same-sex conduct.
