On 18 April 1999 the Supreme Military Court issued its verdict in the so-called “Returnees from Albania” trial. Twenty defendants were acquitted, including ‘Abd al-Mun’im Gamal al-Din ‘Abd al-Mun’im (journalist). However, he was issued with a new detention order and transferred to Istiqbal Tora prison (north of Cairo), a prison closed to visits, where he is currently detained.
