Iran: “Justice is an alien word”: Ill-treatment of political prisoners in Evin Prison

This briefing concerns an incident that occurred on 17 April 2014 in Evin Prison in Tehran when Iranian security officials are reported to have subjected inmates of the Prison’s Section 350, which is used to hold political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, to sustained brutality and assaults while ostensibly conducting a search of their cells. Amnesty International is calling on the Iranian authorities to carry out a prompt, thorough, impartial, and independent investigation into allegations of beatings and other ill-treatment, to publish the findings in full, and to ensure that those officials responsible are brought to justice.
