Jamil Ra’uf Hashim al-Kadhimi, a 60-year-old Iraqi businessman, “disappeared” in Kuwait after his arrest on or around 10 March 1991. In February of this year he was reported to be detained incommunicado in al- Doha Prison in Kuwait City and to be hospitalized. It is not known if his illness is due to a previous heart condition and hypertension, or to torture. As far as Amnesty International is aware he has not been charged with any recognizable criminal offence.
