Mansur Kikhiya, a prominent member of the Libyan opposition, went missing from a hotel in Cairo in December 1993. AI fears that he may have been abducted by Libyan government agents. He is a former foreign minister but since 1980 has been actively opposed to the present regime and has lived in exile in France. He is an insulin-dependant diabetic. The Egyptian authorities are reportedly investigating his “disappearance” but the outcome of the investigation has not been disclosed.
