Morocco: Medical letter writing action: Hassan el Hasni Alaoui

Hassan el Hasni Alaoui is a political prisoner in his early thirties serving a sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment for allegedly plotting against the monarchy. He is currently held in Safi Prison. At the time of his arrest in July 1983 he was a student and a member of the Mouvement de la jeunesse islamique marocaine (MJIM), The Moroccan Islamic Youth Movement. He is reported to have been subjected to torture during pre-trial detention. Hassan el Hasni Alaoui is now reported to suffer from a right inguinal hernia and periodic spontaneous luxation of the right shoulder due to trauma suffered during interrogation. Surgery has been recommended, but not performed.
