This report, produced jointly by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, focuses on the case of 36 human rights defenders who were acquitted on 21 November 2001 after having been sentenced earlier in the year to three months in prison for partcipation in an "unauthorized demonstration". The report provides a history of the case, including the alleged police brutality during the arrest and the trial and subsequent appeal. It also looks at the issue of impunity and the right to demonstrate in Morrocco.
