Tunisia: Further information on fear of unfair trial / prisoner of conscience: Mohamed Kilani

Mohamed Kilani, a leading member of the unauthorized PCOT, Tunisian Workers’ Communist Party, was sentenced to an additional five years’ imprisonment on 27 April 1995 on charges of possessing a leaflet. He had already been setenced to two years’ imprisonment on 22 February on charges of supporting an unauthorized association, and holding unauthorized meetings. His trial, which had been postponed several times, finally took place in Tunis in the absence of defence lawyers. Mohamed Kilani is a prisoner of conscience.
