In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. Amnesty International expresses concern about proposed new laws and amendments to existing laws which, if implemented, would represent a regression and reduce safeguards for human rights. The organization also highlights concerns about the extensive use of the death penalty; restrictions on the peaceful exercise of the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly; and discrimination and violence against women.
