The International Fundraising Programme is organizing an international fundraising conference called Skillshare 2008 and is looking for volunteers to support with the logistics at the venue. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Working in a beautiful Georgian hotel near Windsor, you will have the opportunity to attend sessions and gain knowledge on the major areas of fundraising: Trust and Foundation, Major Donor and Individual Giving. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Sessions and workshops will be delivered by Amnesty International&amp;rsquo;s own fundraisers and leading speakers from the fundraising industry. Over 60 delegates from all over the world will come together to share their knowledge and experience on the practical aspects of raising funds in diverse environments. &lt;br /&gt;
Skillshare 2008 will take place on 2-5 June at the Burnham Beeches Hotel, Berkshire, UK. &lt;br /&gt;

As a volunteer, you will be asked to assist with: &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Meeting and greeting the delegates and speakers on Sunday 1 June and throughout the Conference&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Directing the Conference attendees&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Delegates&amp;rsquo; registration&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Preparing the Conference rooms/equipment&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;Setting up display area&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The ideal person will have great organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of another language would be an advantage! &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
All&amp;nbsp; local travel expenses will be reimbursed and lunch/dinner will be provided at the Venue as required. &lt;br /&gt;

The India team at the International Secretariat is currently recruiting a volunteer to start immediately. Volunteers on the team generally work a minimum of 3 days a week for a minimum of 3 months, although sometimes this period may be shorter or longer depending on the nature of the projects you have been assigned and your own requirements.&lt;br /&gt;
The team is composed of a Researcher, Campaigner, Research and Campaign Assistant and Volunteer and is responsible for AI&amp;rsquo;s research on India. The team works as part of the South Asia sub-regional team in the Asia Pacific Programme. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Role profile and competencies: &lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Volunteers are integral to the team and undertake a range of work, mainly administrative but also research and campaigning tasks.&lt;br /&gt;
Voluntary work in one of the world&amp;rsquo;s leading human rights organisations can provide valuable experience and you will receive work references. However, please note that volunteering does not lead directly to employment with Amnesty International.&lt;br /&gt;
Voluntary work is unpaid, although travel and lunch expenses are provided. We are able to offer only very limited advice in terms of finding accommodation or employment in London. Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own UK visa/work permit before arriving in the UK. AI can provide a supporting letter on request.

TASK LIST FOR VOLUNTEER&lt;br /&gt;

Projects may be devised by the team in collaboration with the volunteer which will aim to assist the team in fulfilling its strategic objectives, whilst making the best use of the volunteer&amp;rsquo;s own skills, interests and experience.&lt;br /&gt;
The volunteer may have the opportunity to build on their skills by attending some in-house training workshops 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Press monitoring and electronic filing: teams monitor daily newspapers on the internet. Relevant articles are then filed electronically into databases with particularly important news items forwarded to the team by email.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;&amp;nbsp;Filing and photocopying: Apart from the electronic filing system, we also have a system for hardcopy filing, which the volunteer is usually in charge of keeping updated. This involves some photocopying and manual filing.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Correspondence: The volunteer will be asked from time to time to answer general correspondence by letter or email.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Updating address books/contact lists/ databases. The volunteer may be asked to update contact information in Lotus Notes, Paradox or Access.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;&amp;nbsp;Other possible tasks include case-work, database entry and supporting teams on projects such as preparing for missions overseas and producing research and campaign materials.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Good IT skills; proficient in MS Windows and Word, familiarity with Access database management and Excel spreadsheets.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

The health and human rights team works within the Policy Programme (PEP) at Amnesty International&amp;rsquo;s International &lt;br /&gt;
Secretariat.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;span&gt;The health team provides policy and campaigning advice to IS teams and the movement on the medical and health-related &lt;br /&gt;
aspects of human rights, including issues as diverse as prison conditions, AI&amp;rsquo;s position on hunger strikes, the effect of violence on women&amp;rsquo;s health and how to make sense of a forensic report. It is involved in policy design on health issues, writes or contributes to AI reports and feeds into campaigns with a health focus. The team prepares and issues news and campaigning materials to alert AI&amp;rsquo;s Health Professionals&amp;rsquo; Network to thematic or issue-based campaigns or individual cases they might wish to work on. It publishes resource materials relating to health and human rights such as codes of professional ethics relevant to health professionals and is involved in the development of the health strand of the forthcoming AI campaign on human dignity. It also liaises with external bodies working on health and/or human rights, including health professional associations, and issues a bi-weekly newsletter for health professionals on health and human rights news.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;span&gt;The team has also recently taken on coordination of the child rights work in the IS and is responsible for providing &lt;br /&gt;
campaigning information and updates on work on children to the child rights network, made up of section coordinators &lt;br /&gt;
responsible for child rights work.&lt;/span&gt;

&lt;span&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Role profile of the volunteer/intern:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

The volunteer will be part of the health and human rights team, which is made up of a coordinator / researcher, &lt;br /&gt;
campaigner and volunteer. The role of the volunteer will be supervised by the coordinator or campaigner, but the &lt;br /&gt;
volunteer is expected to be able to work independently, use their initiative and manage their own workload.&lt;/span&gt;

	&lt;li&gt;researching health and human rights-related publications on the internet&lt;/li&gt;

Amnesty International is looking for dynamic and extremely self-motivated volunteers (2) who are able to assist with the running of a new website in Chinese (Mandarin) and English being launched in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. The volunteers will be responsible in supporting the Website Editor with the management of written and audiovisual material. &lt;br /&gt;
The site is part of Amnesty International&amp;rsquo;s global online presence linking in with campaigning activities of the organisation&amp;rsquo;s national offices. This will be a forum for debate and will have guest bloggers to help stimulate that debate.&lt;br /&gt;
The volunteers are expected to be able to work independently, use their initiative and manage their own workload. Willingness to undertake routine administrative work is crucial. The volunteers will be also expected to collaborate closely with other Programmes within the International Secretariat and Amnesty International national offices in promoting the site in a variety of media and develop online initiatives (particularly using social networking sites) to drive traffic to the site. It is possible to arrange to work remotely.&amp;nbsp;

&lt;h3&gt;Task list for volunteer in the Eurasia team at the International Secretariat&lt;/h3&gt;

The volunteer will be supervised within the team by the Campaigners and Researchers. The volunteer may be asked from time to time to do work for these members of the team.&amp;nbsp; The volunteer&amp;rsquo;s main contact within the International Secretariat (IS) is the Volunteer Coordinator in the Human Resources Program (HRP).&lt;br /&gt;
Volunteers on the team generally work 2 &amp;ndash; 3 days for a minimum of 3 months, although sometimes this period may be shorter or longer depending on the nature of the projects you have been assigned and your own requirements. 
&lt;/p&gt;

Much of the work done by volunteers within the team is administrative, particularly at the start. Depending on individual skills, understanding of Amnesty International (AI) and human rights, other work may be offered to the volunteer on the discretion of the team.&amp;nbsp; The volunteer will be given appropriate training to enable them to complete the tasks assigned to them.

The effectiveness of Amnesty International&#039;s work is dependant largely on the accuracy of our information and the impartial and objective manner in which we report on and campaign against human rights abuses and violations. To this end and to ensure our credibility, it is crucial that we are also perceived by others as being impartial and objective. For most people applying for work within Amnesty International there is no conflict of interest.
