Sandra S. Lutchman studied law at the Free University in Amsterdam and was a civil servant in the Ministry of the Interior, the European Commission (Brussels) and the city of Amsterdam. After this 15-year long career she was chief executive officer of Common Purpose The Netherlands from 2006-2012. She is currently enjoying a sabbatical.
In 2006 Sandra joined the board of AINL and in 2008 she was elected chair of the board of the Dutch section of Amnesty International, a section with over 300,000 members. She has been on the Board of Trustees of OxfamNovib since 2002, is chair of the foundation Friends of the Bascule (academic youth psychiatry institute) and she is a member of the think tank Public Space. She sits on several juries in the areas of young professionals, human rights films and public safety.
Sandra has expertise in the areas of diversity, governance, leadership, relations between small and larger Amnesty International sections/structures, anti-racism, urban policies. Sandra lives near Amsterdam with her partner and their two daughters (12 and 8 years).
