Take action and win prizes with Make Some Noise
"What do I hope for? That we are not forgotten. That you carry on supporting us. If we take each other by the hand, we will prevail."
- Norma Ledesma, mother of Paloma Escobar Ledesma, murdered in 2002 in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Your actions are making an impact. In just a few weeks, you’ve sent over 2000 e-Cards to President Vicente Fox to demand justice for the hundreds of murdered and disappeared women of Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua City, Mexico.
This international pressure has played a crucial role in supporting the mothers on the ground and sustaining pressure on the federal government to act. A widely respected human rights activist, Guadalupe Morfin, has been leading a Special Commission to oversee federal intervention in the unsolved tragedies in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua City.
And yes, we’ve got prizes. Every participant who tells their friends with a Jaguares / Ciudad Juarez action e-Card will be entered in a draw for fabulous Make Some Noise T-shirts and CDs. The contest ends April 20 so help us spread the word today.
But since El Presidente Fox’s inbox is overflowing, we’re shifting the focus to the Governor of Chihuahua, demanding that the state officials involved in negligence or omissions in past investigations are held to account. So take a minute and take action to stop violence against women in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.

PINK Tank Rocks Mardi Gras Parade
Over 120 people joined Amnesty International Australia’s (AIA) LGBTQ Network to Make Some Noise at Mardi Gras. A massive military machine – the PINK tank - led the Amnesty International Australia float in the 2006 Mardi Gras parade. Firing music instead of bullets, the PINK tank inspired and excited the huge crowds along the route! Surrounded by marching girls and guys in hot pink tees, the PINK tank pumped out non-stop music from the Black Eyed Peas, "Power to the People". ********
