Nigeria: Amnesty International disclaimer


It has come to Amnesty International’s attention that Mr Anyim Sunday, who calls himself “Chairman of Amnesty International Nigeria’s Group 33”, will deliver a lecture on good governance in Abuja.


Amnesty International would like to stress that any statements made by “Amnesty International Nigeria, Group 33” or by their so-called Chairman, Mr. Anyim Sunday, have not been authorized by the organization and should therefore not be attributedto Amnesty International.


Amnesty International does not have an office in Nigeria, nor any representatives authorized to speak on behalf of the organization in Nigeria. At the moment, the organization does not have any membership groups in Nigeria. As such, Amnesty International does not accept responsibility for the content of any message, statement or report issued by “Amnesty International Nigeria.”


Amnesty International is a worldwide human rights campaigning movement that works to promote all the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. Amnesty International is impartial and independent of any government, political persuasion, economic interest or religious creed. The organization’s assessment of the human rights situation in any country is based on international human rights law and standards, and is independent of any religious, legal or political system.
