Argentina: Amnesty International delegation to visit the country
An Amnesty International delegation will visit Argentina from 2 to 18 May to investigate the current human rights situation in the country, particularly in relation to the issues of police brutality and concerns around detention centres, including prisions.
The delegation, which will include Virginia Shoppe, Amnesty International’s researcher on Argentina and Renzo Pomi, Amnesty International’s Representative at the United Nations in New York, will visit the states of Buenos Aires, Santiago del Estero, Salta, Jujuy and Mendoza.
During the visit, the delegates will meet with government authorities at the national and state level to discuss some of the organization’s key concerns in regards to the current human rights situation in the country.
The delegates will also meet with non-governmental organizations, representatives of civil society, victims of human rights violations and their relatives.
