DOMINICAN REPUBLIC:24 prisoners including:
Luis LIZARDO CABRERA
Víctor Manuel PENALDO ALMONTE
Amnesty International has now been informed that Luis Lizardo Cabrera and Víctor Manuel Penaldo Cabrera are two of the 24 unnamed prisoners referred to in this Urgent Action.
According to reports Luis Lizardo and Víctor Penaldo have been hospitalized. Both are apparently suffering from intestinal problems and injuries to the knees, following the beatings they received at the hands of members of the Policía Nacional, National Police. Luis Lizardo and Víctor Penaldo, and some or all of the other 22 prisoners, were ill-treated in the Penitenciaría Nacional de la Victoria, La Victoria National Penitentiary, in Santo Domingo, the capital.
FURTHER RECOMMENDED ACTION: Please send telegrams/telexes/express and airmail letters either in Spanish, English, French or your own language:
- expressing concern at the reported ill-treatment of Luis Lizardo Cabrera and Víctor Manuel Penaldo Almonte, and of some or all of 22 other unnamed prisoners;
