Mohammed Abdel Qadir was released from detention in Political Security in the capital Sana’a in June 2006. He had been detained for more than ten months. He was not charged with any offence and was not brought before a court at any time during his detention.

Mohammed Abdel Qadir, a security guard at the office of the international news agency Associated Press (AP) in Sana’a, was reportedly arrested at the AP office at around 8am on 25 August 2005 by members of Political Security.

It was reported that he was beaten by security forces apparently for refusing to provide information about AP journalists.

After his release, Mohammed Abdel Qadir thanked all those who worked on his behalf.

Many thanks to all who sent appeals. No further action is required.
