Amnesty International has learnt that Brigadier Nasser al-Nouba and Hassan Ba’oom were released without charge on 29 November. Brigadier Nasser al-Nouba was arrested after taking part in a protest by retired soldiers in Liberty Square, in central Aden, on 1 September. Hassan Ba’oom was arrested on 1 September following a related protest in the city of al-Mukalla in south-east Yemen. Scores of others who were arrested with the two men were also released during September and October 2007.
The health of Brigadier Nasser al-Nouba and Hassan Ba’oom is said to have improved following access to medical facilities.
