AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH VISIT TO GERMANY
Michael Butler, a member of the Europe research department at Amnesty International's International Secretariat in London, has just completed a three-week visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
During his visit he collected information relating to allegations of police ill-treatment -- Amnesty International's main concern in Germany. He also met with representatives of both governmental and non-governmental organizations, lawyers and the mainly foreign victims of alleged ill-treatment in Berlin, Magdeburg and Hamburg.
The information collected during the visit will be carefully evaluated and any concerns which fall within Amnesty International's mandate will be raised with the relevant government authorities. The organization will also continue to report on its work on Germany in Amnesty International's regular publications.
