Guinea: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Eighth session of the UPR Working Group of the Human Rights Council, May 2010

In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. The organization notes rights protected in Guinea’s Constitution and treaties to which Guinea is a party. Amnesty International also expresses its concerns in relation to serious human rights violations committed by the security forces, including extrajudicial executions and excessive use of force; torture and ill-treatment; violence against women; arbitrary arrest; restrictions on the right to freedom of expression, and the death penalty.
