Bahamas: Further information on the death penalty

Amnesty International deeply regrets that David Mitchell was executed as scheduled on 6 January 2000 despite appeals from many sources, including the victims' son. John Higgs succeeded in taking his own life on 4 January 2000. It has been reported that he slit his wrists while under suicide watch.
