Mexico: Irregular migrants in Mexico: Ten urgent measures to save lives

The number of irregular migrants crossing Mexico increased in 2012 and routine abductions, sexual violence, forced recruitment into criminal gangs, people trafficking and murder of migrants continued unchecked. Impunity for these grave abuses remains the norm. Officials from the Federal Attorney General’s Office on migrant routes have reportedly ceased to focus on abuses against migrants and increased obstacles to accessing justice and protection. Amnesty International is demanding action from the government in the ten priority areas highlighted in this briefing update.
