Switzerland: The alleged ill-treatment of Marc G by police officers in Geneva

Marc G has lodged complaints with the Geneva authorities, alleging that on 3 February 1996 he was ill-treated by police officers. In his complaint he alleges that he was assaulted by police and badly bitten by a police dog, after he had surrendered for arrest after a bag-snatch. There is further concern that police allegedly deprived him of medical treatment for several hours, despite being informed that he was a diabetic, and after a doctor had recommended his urgent hospitalization. His complaint was supported by medical certificates and photographs taken at the Cantonal Hospital. The Procurator General has ordered an investigation into his allegations.
