Russian Federation: Mikhail N. Tyrnikov

Unofficial sources report that Mikhail N Tyrnikov was sentenced to death in October 1989 in Maykop, the capital of the Adygey Republic in Russia. He had been convicted of the murder of three elderly women. The sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Mikhail Tyrnikov denies the charges and alleges that he was forced by physical and psychological pressure to incriminate himself. His case is reportedly due for consideration by the clemency committee attached to the office of the Russian President.
