Prisoner of conscience, Alyaksandr Kazulin, was granted temporary leave from the prison colony in Vitebsk, to attend the funeral of his wife, which took place on 27 February 2008. He was sentenced in July 2006 to over five years' imprisonment on charges which Amnesty International believes to be a violation of his right to freedom of assembly, association and expression. The organization is reiterating its call for his immediate and unconditional release.
