Egypt: Prisoners of conscience / fear of further POCs

Hamdein Sabbahi, journalist; Mohammad ‘Abdu, veterinarian; Mohammad Sulayman Fayyad, lawyer; Hamdi Haykal, lawyer: The above four people were reportedly arrested on 17 June 1997 for their non-violent opposition to a new agricultural law, known as Law 96 of 1992. Amnesty International considers them to be prisoners of conscience and is calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
