Syria: UN Human Rights Council twenty-third session: Urgent debate on human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic

In this letter, Amnesty International deplores ongoing human rights violations and abuses – perpetrated with impunity by all parties to the Syrian conflict – some of which amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity. The crimes committed in Syria require international justice. The Human Rights Council must strenuously urge the UN Security Council to refer the situation to the International Criminal Court. As the next International Conference on the situation in Syria approaches, the organization also urges that Syrian women from all backgrounds are fully included in the Conference.
