This report examines "disappearances" in Algeria over the last six years. It looks at the background and pattern of disappearances, how they take place and who the victims are likely to be. It also reports on the recent demands from relatives of the "disappeared" that the authorities investigate these cases - demands that have met with a totally inadequate response of unconvincing explanations.
