Amnesty International can confirm that Ricardo Martínez Martínez, abducted on 20 October 1999 by three unidentified men, has reappeared. He was reportedly left by the roadside in a district of Mexico City close to midnight on 21 October.

Ricardo Martínez, who apparently has been unable to identify his abductors or the place where he was held for some 24 hours, claims to have been the victim of “violencia física”, (“physical violence”). He is reported to have made a statement about his abduction to a representative of the Ministerio Público, Public Ministry.

No further action is needed from the Urgent Action Network. Thank you to all those who sent appeals.
