The enduring legacy of the genocide and armed conflict continues for most Rwandese. This paper examines the extent to which the current government has addressed points of tension that led to the heinous crime of genocide. It focuses on the issues of criminal justice, the rights to freedom of expression and association, violence against women, refugee rights and human rights abuse in the DRC because the legacy of the Rwandese genocide has spread beyond its borders.
