Sudan: 10 years on: Violations remain widespread in Darfur

As the Darfur conflict marks its 10th anniversary, the human rights situation in the region remains dire. Civilians continue to face attacks by government forces, pro-government militias, and armed opposition groups. In addition, security services carry out torture and other ill-treatment against detainees and, alongside the police, use excessive force against peaceful protesters. This document provides a brief outline of the violations and abuses by government forces and armed groups that remain widespread in the region and calls for urgent action to stop human rights violations in Darfur.
