Italy: Ill-treatment: November 1991 – March 1992

This document describes alleged ill-treatment of detainees between November 1991 and March 1992. It updates information previously given in “Amnesty International: Concerns in Europe: May-October 1991 (EUR 01/02/91). The following cases are reported: further allegations of ill-treatment in Sollicciano Prison, Florence; alleged ill-treatment of Alessandro Ruver in Regina Coeli Prison, Rome; alleged ill-treatment of Daud Addawe in police custody, Rome. The report summarizes an interim reply from the Minister of Justice to a memorandum submitted by AI in October 1991, dealing with (inter alia): the alleged ill-treatment of inmates of Fuorni Prison, Salerno and the inquiry into alleged ill-treatment of prisoners in San Vittore Prison, Milan.
