The Israeli authorities have agreed to grant Palestinian man Ahmed Abu Mteer permission to leave Gaza in order to travel to a Palestinian hospital in East Jerusalem, where he can receive life-saving treatment. In May 2009, he was referred for life-saving treatment to Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem. The authorities have now confirmed that he will be permitted to travel on 12 July 2009.
