Medical letter writing action: Yemen: Mansur Muhammad Ahmad Rajih

Mansur Muhammad Rajih, a writer and poet under sentence of death as a result of an unfair trial and evidence that the charge on which he was convicted was trumped-up, was admitted to hospital from the Central Prison in Ta’iz on 2 February. He had been on hunger strike from 29 December to 3 January 1993 and on admission to hospital was found to be suffering from weakness related to malnutrition and emphysema. He was returned to prison after three days, against medical advice. AI fears that he may not have access to adequate medical care in prison. AI is also calling for his immediate release as a prisoner of conscience.
