Amnesty International Team in Tunisia available for interview

An Amnesty International delegation is in Tunisia ahead of elections on 23 October.

Donatella Rovera, Senior Crisis Response Adviser leading the delegation is available for interviews in French, English, Spanish or Italian.

The purpose of the delegation’s visit includes the following:

  • Monitoring the human rights situation around the elections;
  • Investigating cases of arbitrary detention and torture and ill-treatment since January 2011; and
  • Gathering information on the conduct of security forces since January, including the reform of the security apparatus as well as the reform of the judiciary.

Amnesty International launched a campaign in September targeting political parties in Tunisia    for them to commit to uphold 10 human rights pledges, including commit to ensure gender equality and to uphold freedoms of expression, association and assembly.
